Blog Post Four

“My name is Aguet Mum Deng, and I am a twenty-four-year-old mother of three kids of age ranging from two to seven years. Among them are two boys and one girl. One of my kids is in primary school, and the other two will join next year.

I am a qualified well technician trained by WESI two years ago. I received spare parts last year, and I used them for well repair in my assigned community, in which I have repaired 22 wells that provided clean drinking water to more than six thousand beneficiaries. It was a great business where I earned 12000 ssp (equivalent of $30) and also received some amount of money from the exchange of spare parts. Since then, we ran out of spare parts, and the repair activities were slowed down. Many wells have been broken down, and there are no spare parts to carry out more wells repair; hence, the income level has gone down.

In this gap, I m very delighted to have received assorted spare parts from WESI, and I will carry out the massive repair of wells in my community. Some water management committees have collected their repair fees and spare parts fees. I will repair their wells and get a good payment. Such payments will be a better earning this season, and I will pay school fees and school uniforms and bring bread to the table. I am really grateful.
